The existing 100 year old Lexden Bridge needed to be demolished and a new reinforced concrete single span bridge constructed in its place.
The project involved the careful demolition of the existing 100 year old bridge before the construction of new in-situ reinforced concrete abutments and a steel beam & reinforced concrete bridge deck, supported on new 15m deep concrete piles.
